SQT’s live – virtual model provides a flexible and convenient way to complete courses from anywhere with internet access. Virtual learning allows learners to balance work, family, and study without needing to travel to a physical classroom.

How does SQT’s virtual learning work?

Expand/Collapse Expand/Collapse

This delivery model is primarily based on real-time interaction and peer collaboration with our experienced Tutors, replicating the benefits of a classroom environment online.  The classroom learning environment and interaction is replicated in so far as is practical. For some longer courses, zoom sessions are supported by structured resources and activities on Moodle, our virtual learning environment.

Is there an opportunity to test the system before my course starts?

Expand/Collapse Expand/Collapse

Yes, the Course Manager conducts a Tech Check before the course begins. This is carried out for all public courses and for In-Company courses where the Course Organiser chooses if they want a Tech Check. This session allows everyone to test the technology in advance and address any technical issues.

For longer QQI courses, a course orientation is always provided, and this includes a Tech Check to help you get familiar with the platform and course structure.

Please review the Moodle and Zoom pages to access instructional videos.

Is there technical support available if I have trouble with Zoom or Moodle?

Expand/Collapse Expand/Collapse

Yes, our Course Administration Team are ready to help with any technical issues. You can access a range of self-help guides in the Zoom and Moodle pages. If further assistance is needed, you can contact your Course Manager via email, chat, or phone. We encourage you to check out our Zoom and Moodle pages first as many common issues have simple solutions.

Can I actively participate and ask questions during a virtual class?

Expand/Collapse Expand/Collapse

What should I do if my internet disconnects during a session?

Expand/Collapse Expand/Collapse

Reconnect as soon as possible by clicking the original Zoom link. It’s a good idea to check your internet stability before each session, many internet issues can be resolved by restarting your router.

Can I re-watch my courses?

Expand/Collapse Expand/Collapse

In general courses are not recorded for viewing at a later date. Some courses are recorded and if this is the case you will be notified in advance of your course start date. Recordings of live sessions are typically uploaded to Moodle within 24 hours.

Can I complete the programme at my own pace?

Expand/Collapse Expand/Collapse

While materials are available for self-paced study on some courses, SQT’s online model is based on live-virtual sessions which follow a set schedule. Self-paced resources allow you to learn at your own pace, however, attending live sessions is important for interaction and discussion. If you have any queries in relation to attendance, please contact your Course Manager.
