Many companies are concerned about the environmental and health and safety issues arising from the handling, storage and transportation of hazardous chemicals. This is particularly relevant in the context of Clause 7.2 of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001: Competence, which requires the implementing company to ensure that all personnel who handle hazardous chemicals are adequately trained for both normal and emergency conditions.

Relatively recent and other legislation to be covered includes the REACH Regulation 1907/2006/EC in December 2006, which established a new regulatory framework for the registration, evaluation, authorisation and restriction of chemicals, replacing many existing pieces of chemical legislation and with implications for any companies who are designated as a downstream user of chemicals.

This one day course is designed for personnel who wish to gain an understanding of the properties and safe handling of hazardous chemicals.

It will also assist companies to prepare for a hazardous spill and will focus on:

  • Spill preparation
  • Spill response
  • Spill clean-up
